March Empties: Hits, Misses, and Repurchases
It’s time for my regular empties update, where I run through everything I’ve finished up this month and share some honest thoughts on what’s staying in my routine. If you’re curious about which beauty, skincare, and fragrance products actually get used to the last drop, you’re in the right place.
NYX Professional Makeup Micro Brow Pencil – Taupe
Let’s start with a makeup staple, the NYX Professional Makeup Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe. I’ve been using this micro pencil for months, and it’s finally bitten the dust (again). What I love about it is the precise tip, the micro size makes it so easy to mimic natural brow hairs and create a defined yet soft look. The Taupe shade is a perfect match for my brows, never too warm or ashy, and the texture is just right. I’ve tried other brow products, but I always seem to return to this one. That said, I’m open to recommendations if you have a holy grail.
Repurchase? Yes
The Ordinary Matrixyl
Next up is The Ordinary Matrixyl, a peptide serum that promises anti-ageing benefits. In my experience, it works best when combined with other products rather than on its own. I used it every morning, and my skin did feel a bit more hydrated and plump, but I didn’t see a dramatic difference compared to other serums I’ve tried. Since my routine already includes a few different serums and takes a while to get through, I’ll probably revisit Matrixyl later, once I have simplified my lineup.
Repurchase? Not at the moment.
Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo
This shampoo is a cult favourite for a reason. It left my hair soft, shiny, and manageable, plus it smells good. This was actually my second time purchasing it, and to be honest, I’ll probably order it again because it delivers great results when my hair needs a moisture boost. But lately, I’ve also been trying to reduce my half-used products, so this won’t be an immediate repurchase.
Repurchase? Probably.
The Ordinary Argireline
Another serum from The Ordinary, Argireline, is often called “Botox in a bottle.” This was actually my second time purchasing it, hoping I’d finally see the benefits everyone raves about. While I like its lightweight texture and how it layers under other products, I have to admit I’m just not seeing the results I was hoping for, even after giving it another go. At this point, I’m actively evaluating alternative products that might be more effective at addressing my concerns.
Repurchase? Maybe, down the line.
Dettol Soap Bar
The Dettol Soap Bar is gentle, effective, and budget-friendly. Since incorporating it into my routine, my skin has become so much smoother, and I’ve noticed it’s actually been helping with the frequent cysts I had experienced, a benefit I didn’t expect but really appreciate. My skin also feels noticeably cleaner and fresher after every wash. Because my body tends to be on the drier side, I always make sure to follow up with an oil or moisturising body wash afterwards to keep everything balanced. It’s a staple in my routine, and I’ve already restocked it because I can’t go without it. Sometimes, the simple products are the ones you end up loving the most.
Repurchase? Yes—already did!
M&S Warmth Perfume
This fragrance has become my primary everyday scent. It’s cosy, inviting, and perfect for everyday wear. What I love most is that it’s office-friendly, never overpowering, but still distinctly feminine. The Warmth range also includes linen spray, body cream, hand wash, and reed sticks. I’m pretty sure there’s a candle too, though I haven’t found it yet. Each store seems to have its own variation of the collection. They do have these products online as well, so perhaps I’ll go there for my future needs. Sticking to just one range like this really helps keep me organised and on budget, which is a bonus!
I loved it so much I’ve already bought another bottle. If you’re looking for something comforting but unique, I highly recommend checking it out.
Repurchase? Yes, already done!
That’s a wrap on my March empties. I always find it satisfying to use up products and reflect on what’s worth bringing back into my routine. Have you tried any of these? What did you finish this month? I’d love to hear your thoughts and recommendations.
