L.A. Girl Pro.Matte Foundation | Review

Hello,

The L.A. Girl Pro.Matte Foundation is one that I have been wanted to try for so long. This is as the brand is one that I have used for many years. Usually I would find local stockists in hair product stores. Their concealer was one of the first makeup products I ever purchased since the price is reasonable and the performance high.

Golden Bronze

L.A. Girl

Created in 1985 L.A. Girl has targeted the divers requirements in every demographic around  the world. Its concealer range is certainly what the brand is most known for. The concealer line has grow to a selection of 43 shades including much loved colour correctors. Although not known for having main stream U.K stockists, the brand continues to thrive thanks to it great quality and affordable prices.

The foundation is the sister to the Pro.Coverage and one of 3 foundations that L.A. Girl offer. It has a paraben-free formula with added vitamins such as vitamin E and B5. Currently the UK site offers a selection of 13 shades for £10 each. In terms of cover, this is said to be medium to full coverage. The shade I used was Golden Bronze which is for tan to deep skin with bronze undertones.

Summary

The foundation performed impressively on a busy day at Stylist Live. With combinational skin my T-zone area is hard to control despite not powdering throughtout the day, my skin stayed matte across most of my face (see image). I would certainly say that it is medium to full leaning on the full side in terms of coverage. This was as it covered some of my imperfections without any additional colour correction. Colouring is where most brands fall down with me as I tend to find the nearest too warm for my yellow undertone. This was certainly one of the best I’ve used especially within the price range it is. Although the UK does not have all of the available shades, it is currently an intimate selection available. If their concealer is anything to go by this will only change over time. The main challenge anyone would most likely experience is finding a local stockist. However who knows whether we may one day be able to find them in stores..

  4. Great review!

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Have you tried the foundation?

      1. I’ve never tried the foundation before because the shade choice are so off lol

      2. Shade matching is so challenging for me. What’s your go-to foundation, I’d love to know.

      3. Once you know what undertone you have, it helps a lot! My go-to foundation is Too Faced Born This Way in the shade Golden Beige

The undertone is certainly key. I got matched to the shade caramel but it was too deep for me. I haven’t been matched since the new shades have been added though. I’ll go and have another look. X

      5. I also recommend getting a sample to try it out because sometimes the formula causes the foundation to oxidize and turn a couple shades darker

Thanks so much this can be a real challenge.

      7. I’ve never tried the foundation before because the shades are so off lol I wish they could bring out more shades lol
