What Facial Cleanser Should I Use?

Cleansing is the first step of every skincare regime that everyone knows; however, with so many types, it can become challenging to know which is right for you. We can agree that nothing feels better than a good facial cleanse. The purpose of cleansing is not only to remove impurities and allow the skin to repair and renew, but the dirt-free surface allows skincare products to penetrate the skin and works their magic. This blog post will help you identify the different types of cleanser options and their benefits in your skincare routine.

Gel Cleansers

These are designed for deep cleansing, removing excess oil and killing acne-causing bacteria, thanks to their antiseptic and exfoliating properties. With a clear gel-like consistency, gel cleansers are one of the easier ones to identify visually.

Cream Cleansers

As they don’t strip the skin of its natural oils, a cream cleanser is excellent for sensitive skin types. These are creamy in texture and tend to be more gentle than a gel cleanser. Their hydrating properties also make them a great second cleanser for those who prefer to double cleanse.

Foam Cleansers

Between the two, you’ll find a foam cleanser. Sometimes these start as more of a gel, whereas other times, they may be instant foam. Foam cleanser removes excess oil and daily grime as thoroughly as a gel cleanser.

Oil Cleansers

If you want to protect your skin barrier, an oil cleanser is a gentle way of removing even the most stubborn makeup, such as waterproof mascara.

Clay Cleansers

Like the masks, they are known for their absorbing power, making a clay cleanser ideal if you have an oily or combination skin type. Since they also don’t usually contain harsh acids, they are an excellent deep clean option for sensitive skin types.

Micellar Cleansers

Micellar cleansers are alcohol-free, gentle waters that contain tiny oil molecules suspended in soft water—that attract oil, dirt and makeup.

Cleansing Balms

Simple to use and don’t require water, cleansing balms are highly moisturizing and don’t contain harsh skin stripping ingredients.

Cleansing Bars

Cleansing bars are a sustainable alternative to traditional face cleansers. Unlike regular soap bars, cleanser bars don’t contain soap at all and will not dry your skin.

As the face is one of the most exposed parts of the body, regularly adapting your cleanser to your skin needs is a must. It’s essential to keep in mind that you may need to listen and respond to your skin needs, particularly at season changes. Changes to weather conditions and your general routine can also impact your skin condition.
