The English Riviera – Torquay

Hello,

If you haven’t heard of The English Riviera before then you should find this post so interesting. As one of the most popular staycation destinations in the UK, Torquay is somewhere you should visit.

The English Riviera is in Devon. Surrounded by both countryside and breath-taking coastlines. Made up of Torbay, including Paignton, Brixham, Babbacombe, Cockington and Torquay. It took me just over 3 hours to drive down from London.

Places to stay

There are loads of places to stay on your visit however I knew I wanted to spend mine at TLH Victoria. Something I was unaware of is that there are 4 hotels connected along with a spa, and entertainment areas. All of these you can walk through without going outside. The spa and treatments are highly popular and if you were looking to try one whilst there then I’d recommend you book prior to your arrival. Guests of the hotel also gain a 15% discount at the spa.

Although I tried a couple of restaurants in my short stay the TLH food was my highlight. It was classic dishes made to an exceptional standard. Not to mention that both the price and the service was perfect. Every morning and night I was seated at the same table. At first I was confused as to why but then I realised it enhances the dining experience. The staff will also know which room left their stuff after eating if I forgot anything.

A short day is certainly something that should be avoided when visiting Torquay. There is tonnes to do locally and then there is places further afield to explore. The coastline is breath taking, I took a 2 hours walk around. Another highlight of mine was certainly the model village, which I will share in a separate post.

There is so much to do in Torquay and really is a place like no other. If you are looking for a staycation further from London then this would certainly keep you and friends/family of all ages occupied. If you were to go to TLH Victoria hotel then be warned, it could keep you occupied for at least 3 days by itself. For this reason I can not wait to return to Torquay in the future and explore more places.
